MY SULKING BIRD-OF-PARADISE

I bought my bird-of-paradise plant in January last year.

I was happy that a couple of weeks
after I  bought it, a few bunches of lovely
flowers began to appear.

But, after its first batch of flowers, it doesn't
seem to be interested in flowering anymore.

A bunch appeared recently, but it didn't look good.
The flowers didn't actually bloom. And they dried up
along the way. Can somebody help?

I am just imagining, what a lovely scene it would be,
if a beautiful bird-of-paradise bird were to come over to
serenade my bird-of-paradise plant
at a time when its flowers were still blooming!

MY JATROPHA PODAGRICA

Some shots of my jatropha podagrica, or bunga jarak.

Some people call it  buddha  belly.

There are people who refer to it as gout plant.

MY "BUNGA SATE", IN 2 COLORS

I have been having my Bunga Sate for quite a while already. I have not found
the right kind of fertilizers for them. They don't seem to grow and flower well.

They might not like the kind of soil where they are grown!

BIG TREE FLOWERS

Some 'big tree' flowers around Bandar Baru Bangi.

A scatter of 'yellow flowers' and 'white moons',  along one of
the busiest roads in Bangi.

My apologies, I don't know what the big trees are.
Some of our friends might know them.

WILD BEAUTIES

Around the unkempt areas behind my house this morning,  these three
beauties did attract my lazy lens.

 (2)

(3)

Sorry, I don't think I know who they are, except beauty no.3, which the Malays call 'semalu'.

BUNGA RAYA KUNCUP

In this first entry of AROUND US, allow me to show you my Bunga Raya Kuncup (the hibiscus flower that doesn't blossom!) that I have grown in my compound.

Bunga Raya Kuncup was one of my late mother's favorites. She called it Kembang Kantil (the dangling flower) and planted a lot of it around her kampung house where she lived until the late 70s. I remember that one of her Bunga Raya Kuncup trees, planted close to a window,  grew to a height of about 10 feet and bore lots and lots of flowers.
